Our client nShift was looking to drive lead generation and brand awareness over the crucial Christmas and January period when retailers are strategising. It also wanted to get the industry talking by producing fresh consumer research that would support retailers in better understanding the customer psyche.


Retail Week produced its How They’ll Spend It 2024 report in partnership with nShift to provide retailers and brands with essential shopper insights to help them make business-critical decisions.

Published in December 2023, the report drew on exclusive consumer research conducted by Retail Week, in partnership with YouGov, in October, which surveyed 1,000 UK consumers to understand their shopping priorities. The research helped to show key consumer trends across demographics, the major changes shoppers were making to their shopping habits – and which would stick in 2024 – and offered a window into how the golden quarter would play out.

Campaign marketing included:

  • A digital report published on Retail-Week.com and amplified across Retail Week channels across a six-week period. This included social media, an email campaign and advertising promotion on Retail-Week.com
  • Online teaser content articles published on Retail-Week.com and featured on morning briefing newsletters
  • Report hosted behind a data-capture page, with nShift provided with GDPR-compliant leads to download
  • Promotion via Retail Week’s morning newsletter (46,000 subscribers), on Twitter (102,000 followers), LinkedIn group (68,000 members) and LinkedIn company page (28,000 followers)

The report performed above benchmark with a strong level of downloads and caught the attention of both the press and the industry. Investment bank Stifel featured the report and its associated findings in its 2024 investor round-up, while trade publications Post & Parcel and Asian Trader also provided coverage.
